Sapaio 2017

The Sapaio 2017 is an expressive Tuscan red wine from Podere Sapaio, crafted in the Bolgheri region of Italy. Despite the challenges of the 2017 vintage - marked by a severe April frost and a hot, dry summer - the wine has earned high praise from critics for its structure, balance, and elegance. Made from organically farmed grapes, this is a classic Bordeaux-style blend that showcases the precision and character of Podere Sapaio’s winemaking.

Production & Ageing

Grape Varieties: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot, 10% Cabernet Franc

Vinification: The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with an extended maceration on the skins to extract depth and complexity.

Maturation: The wine was aged for 18 months in French oak barriques, followed by 10–12 months of bottle refinement before release.
